Gilford Bishop, born at Clare SA, was one of the original musicians when the ASO was formed in 1936 serving until 1966

The first conductor of the ASO was William Cade, Prior to coming to help set up the ASO in 1935-6, he conducted the Melbourne Regent Theatre Orchestra. Photo is circa 1930
